Founded in 1911, Italia Conti is one of the World's most prestigious performing arts training providers. The Italia Conti Academy is Britain’s oldest established theatre arts training school and has always recognised that the industry demands excellent standards of training in all areas. The Academy’s reputation is renowned throughout the World and the request for the training it offers outstretched the commuting practicalities of just a London based centre.
Demand resulted in the Academy opening part-time Associate Schools throughout the Country. Each Associate School is unique to its host community. No audition is required as we wish to encourage participation in the arts for all abilities.
Our Associate Schools in Brighton & Hove and Clapham offer a wide range of classes, providing students with the opportunity to receive a full and thorough training and learn a wide range of performance skills. Our part-time Associate classes are offered to pupils between 3 and 18+ years – whether it’s for recreation, physical and social development or a serious step towards a long-term career, the emphasis is on enjoyment and first class training. Our timetable allows students to choose as many classes as they wish to study and can select from a variety of subjects.
Our staff are all chosen for their ability and experience. Many are seasoned professionals who have worked in the industry and have a wealth of credits to their name. All staff are DBS checked and we always have a designated first aider on site.
Italia Conti Associates is dedicated to providing a safe and secure environment for all of our students. The safe guarding policy is available to all students and staff.
Italia Conti Associates is run by the Principal whose role is to supervise rather than teach. Whilst the tuition is delivered by specialist teachers the Principal is free to visit and observe all of the classes at the school.
Italia Conti Associates requires all its Principals, teachers and assistants to obtain the enhanced clearance via the DBS - Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly CRB) In addition most of the staff are also licensed chaperones.
The Principal has direct contact with the full time academy’s child protection officer where professional help advice and support is available on the rare occasions that it is required.
The combination of the non-teaching Principal, the small class sizes and the immediate access to expert professional advice at any time that sets Italia Conti Associates apart from many other organisations working with children.
